Vazhavanthol is located at around 50km from Trivandrum railway station. This is a perfect place if you want to spend one day . Perfect place for trekking. You have to take permission from forest dept,which will cost Rs1000 for 10 people.
Be very careful of slippery rocks while trekking. You may find snakes,leaches on the way. At the end of the trek, you will find waterfall, which is absolutely amazing. The water was very cool. Take enough food as you will not find anything to eat on the way. You will be accompanied with a guide .
The timings are from 9 am – 1 pm. We reached at 1 pm and was one of the last groups to trek. It is advised to reach earlier. Also, carry water, fruits etc as the to and fro journey would take around 3 hrs and need to cover 5 km. Initially, the path is easier and after some time you would see steeps.
Trekking shoes would be preferable. Once when you reach the upper main waterfalls, it would be worth. You can have a bath near the falls or during the return journey. You will be accompanied by an experienced Male/Female guide. Do follow their instructions. Overall, it was memorable trekking.
